Ultimate Fighter Finale Picks

Posted on 18 June 2009

Clay Guida just barely edges out James Wilks as the biggest underdog of the night, and for good reason. Few people have the heart, the will, and the gas tank that Guida has. But one of those people who has all that plus a little extra athleticism and explosiveness is Diego Sanchez. It’s hard to see what Guida really has to threaten him with. Sanchez wins this, but we didn’t become degenerate gamblers to bet on guys who are nearly 3-1 favorites.

The lines tell us that neither TUF finale fight should be all that competitive. Johnson and Winner have seemed like they’re on another level from their housemates since the beginning, though if there’s one guy who seems like he might have a better shot at the upset it’s Continue Reading

Betting Focus: UFC 99 Main Card

Posted on 12 June 2009

Just a few hours from now the UFC will invade Germany with the force of the Allies, the Soviet Red Army, and David Haselhoff all rolled into one. If you’re anything like us, you’re sitting there right now wondering how you can make a quick, labor-free buck off the whole thing.

Franklin is the favorite against Silva because you just don’t know which Wandy you’re going to see these days, while “Ace” has been pretty consistent of late, even if it’s consistently less than spectacular. He’s only a slight favorite because there’s always a chance Silva could come out like it’s 2002 and floor him in the first two minutes. I doubt that will happen. We’re going to see a more patient Silva, but I still think Continue Reading

Rich Franklin (-155) vs. Wanderlei Silva (+115)

Both fighters will be looking for redemption in this battle as Silva is off a brutal loss to Rampage Jackson while Franklin is looking to bounce back from a couple of beatdowns courtesy of Anderson Silva.

Wanderlei Silva is 32-years-old and he’s an old 32. He’s also become somewhat predictable in recent fights. If Franklin does his homework, he’ll know everything that Silva can throw at him.

Franklin should be in control but one wild card is Continue Reading

UFC 98 Betting Preview

Posted on 22 May 2009

UFC 98 will be a battle between two of the best fighters in the business today. Two undefeated warriors will face off with the world Light Heavyweight title on the line. The champion “Sugar” Rashad Evans will try to defend his title against the elusive karate specialist Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida. The card will also feature two former Welterweight champions who have been trying to get in the Octagon together for a while now. Matt Hughes and Matt Serra will finally get it on, with the loser likely disappearing from the Welterweight picture. Two other featured matches you may want to put some action on would be Sean Sherk vs. Frankie Edgar, and Dan Miller vs. Chael Sonnen. For updated lines on all UFC 98 matches Continue Reading
